皆さま、こんにちは。
2026年3月のMIFA Chat Salon開催のご案内です。
3月は外国人メンバーによるパネルディスカッションを実施します。生活の中の気づきを題材に文化比較に繋げていきたいと考えています。セッションでは、パネルディスカッションの印象的な話題を題材にテーブル毎にさらに深掘りしてみましょう！
セッションの後は、2月のサロンで申し込まれた皆さまとランチセッションを開催します。そして新たに参加いただける皆さまは次のメールアドレスに2/28までにお申し込みをお願いいたします mifachatsalon2025@gmail.com 
ランチセッションの参加費は500円、11時半までの定例セッションまで参加の方は無料です。桜の季節ももうすぐそこ、楽しい話題に花を咲かせましょう。

レギュラー外国人メンバーにパネラーになってもらい、

文化の違いによる感覚をお話ししてもらいます。

2026/2/7 英語でおしゃべり 開催報告

開催報告

2月のChat Salonでは、岩井さんが「詩吟」についてショートスピーチをしてくださいました。日本古来の伝統文化である詩吟の歴史や、その魅力についてご紹介いただきました。また、実際の詩吟も披露してくださり、会場でその歌声を聞くことができました。普段なかなか触れる機会のない日本文化を身近に感じる時間となりました。

その後のチャットセッションでは、Valentine’s Day をテーマに英語での交流を楽しみました。「Bitter/Sweet Memories of Valentine’s」を切り口に、それぞれの思い出や国ごとの違いなどについて、和やかな雰囲気の中で話が弾んでいました。

February 7th was the second time I participated in the Chat Salon’s
activities, an opportunity to meet again the same friendly faces and learn
about Japanese culture while engaging in stimulating discussions about
customs and traditions and many other subjects. And for the second time, I came back home eager to share with my Japanese wife what I had learned and some of the funny or enlightening exchanges I had had previously. 

Saturday, I was also reminded of a « selfish » interest I certainly share with others in joining our group, that of maintaining a good mental health,
through interaction with like-minded people who want to keep growing, to
satisfy their curiosity and to create bridges between different cultures.

As a lover of poetry, I deeply enjoyed the introduction to Shigin and the
accompanying performance. It encouraged me to learn better Japanese.
The discussions that followed, although focused on the theme of Valentine
Day, were lively and expanded to other themes. One participant had even
done some research on the Roman origins of Valentine’s day! It became
popular in France only recently, and flowers (red roses in particular) are
usually exchanged…not chocolate. We discussed the tradition of giri-
choco. I found out later about the existence of honmei-choko, chô-giri-
choco, and tomo-choko. Apart from the fact that this started as a purely
commercial event in Japan, I feel bad for the recipients of chô-giri-choco
and cannot but see it as a form of harassment. In fact, in most public
institutions and companies like NHK, where I work, or the Tokyo
Metropolitan Theatre, this « tradition » is not viewed anymore as
appropriate.

I am looking forward to our next Chat Salon when I will participate in a
roundtable with fellows from various countries. All questions will be
welcomed!
