On March 7th, MIFA Salon hosted an engaging activity featuring a panel of foreign participants who shared their experiences and impressions of living in Japan. The event aimed to provide insights into the cultural differences and daily surprises that foreigners encounter while adapting to Japanese society.

During the session, each panelist discussed specific aspects of Japanese life that they found particularly striking. Common themes included the politeness and punctuality of people, as well as the attention to detail in everyday services. Some panelists expressed surprise at the complexities of garbage disposal and the strong sense of community observed in local neighborhoods.

The discussion was interactive, allowing attendees to ask questions and share their own observations. This exchange not only highlighted the unique perspectives of foreigners but also fostered cross-cultural understanding among participants. The panelists emphasized that while some customs and social norms required adjustment, these differences contributed positively to their overall experience in Japan.

Following the panel discussion, participants were divided into six tables for smaller group discussions. At each table, attendees revisited the themes introduced by the panelists and shared their own impressions and experiences. This format encouraged more personal interactions and allowed participants to reflect on the cultural observations discussed earlier, further deepening mutual understanding and engagement.

The event continued with interactive activities, including singing, gesture-guessing, and a flag-identification game, where participants had to find the flag of a country when it was mentioned. Participants who succeeded were awarded chocolate cake, adding a fun and engaging element to the session. The day concluded with a communal lunch, during which members had the opportunity to socialize and continue discussions in a relaxed setting.

In conclusion, the MIFA Salon activity successfully provided a platform for dialogue, cultural exchange, and social interaction. By combining panel discussions, group activities, and communal meals, the event offered valuable insights into cultural adaptation and fostered meaningful connections between Japanese residents and foreign participants.
