4月のChat Salonは、150回目の開催という特別な回でした。最初にお祝いの時間があり、初期メンバーの紹介や、これまで参加してきた外国人メンバーの思い出、過去のブログの振り返りなどが行われました。これまでの活動を振り返る良い機会となり、あたたかい雰囲気の中でスタートしました。

その後、「自己紹介と他者紹介」をテーマに、いつものように英語でおしゃべりをしました。

On April 4th, I participated in a MIFA Salon activity centered around the theme of “Self-Introduction and Introduction of Others.” The event also marked a special milestone, as participants came together to celebrate the 150th MIFA Salon, making the occasion even more memorable.

The session began with a brief celebration of the 150th gathering. This moment highlighted the long history of the salon and its continued role in bringing together people from diverse cultural backgrounds. It created a warm and welcoming atmosphere before moving into the main activity.

Following the celebration, participants were paired up for an interactive self-introduction exercise. In each pair, one person introduced themselves while their partner listened and asked questions. Afterward, the roles were reversed, allowing both participants to share their stories and engage in conversation. This format encouraged active listening and helped participants learn not only how to present themselves, but also how to show interest in others.
Through this activity, participants had the opportunity to practice communication in a more personal and meaningful way. The question-and-answer exchange made conversations more dynamic, going beyond simple introductions and allowing deeper understanding between partners.
Compared to larger group discussions, this paired format created a more comfortable environment, especially for those who may feel shy speaking in front of many people. It also made it easier to build connections quickly, as each participant could focus on one person at a time.
Overall, the April MIFA Salon activity provided a valuable opportunity to develop communication skills while fostering cross-cultural interaction. Combined with the celebration of the 150th session, the event was both meaningful and enjoyable, leaving participants with new connections and memorable experiences.
