猛暑の八月、皆様お元気でお過ごしでいらっしゃいましたか？
9月になり、早く涼しくなってほしいものですね。
さて、9月の”英語でおしゃべり”の活動も沢山の方が
ご参加くださりまして、ありがとうございました。
ＭＩＦＡのＮｅｗ メンバーになられました、
Ｍｒ．Ｏｓａｍｕ Ｔａｋａｈａｓｈｉ 氏によるご自身の
留学先であった
”スコットランド” の貴重なお話をいただきました。

The presentation was the introduction of Scotland and her historical and political characteristics, culture, famous figures brought up there, English dialect, and beautiful scenery.
The first part was asking the audiences if they knew Scotland. I explained where Scotland is (It is a part of the U,K. and so there is no such a country called イギリス in this world). Then, I explained how Scotland deals with the rest of countries in the U.K. I also mentioned that Scottish people are predominantly Celtic people so that there has been various ethnic conflicts with England. Furthermore, Scotland is divided between two major religions: Presbyterian Protestant and Roman Catholic. I explained the audiences that Scottish football matches are related to the political and religious issues. For example, when England is fighting with the other country, Scottish people tend to support the opponent country fighting with English team. Whenever there is a match between Celtics (Catholic) and Rangers (Protestant), Scottish people become extremely serious and fanatic to observe this match.
The second part was about what Scotland is famous for. As you can see the power point slide, I introduced Whisky, Nessie in Loch-Ness (I also mentioned there is a strange person who has been staying beside the loch to look for Nessie for more than 10 years), Kilts (Men do not wear an underwear whenever they wear a Kilt!). I also displayed names of famous figures brought up in Scotland (Please could you refer to the list shown in the power point slide? Thanks).
The third part was introducing Scottish English Dialect. I picked up 8 examples. (Please could you refer to the list shown in the power point slide? Thanks)
The last part was showing the photos of Scottish scenery I have taken during my stay there. I showed Edinburgh (Capital), Dunblane (Where Andrew Murry was born and brought up, and I stayed for 1 year), Perth (The place I stayed in Scotland at the last time, and Famous for Salmon Fishing and the strategically important place for Sir Oliver Cromwell occupied to conquer Scotland), and Forth Bridge (Built and Connecting between Lothian (Where Edinburgh is located) and Fife (Where St. Andrews is located).
