MIFA Chat Salon 参加予定の皆様へ

　日増しに秋の深まりを感じる季節となりましたが、いかがお過ごしですか。

  第59回MIFA Chat Salonをご案内します。

  深まりゆく秋のひと時を「英語でおしゃべり」で楽しみませんか。
　スタッフ一同皆さまの参加をお待ちしております。

１．日時：2016年10月 1日(土）10:00~12:00

               受付が混雑しますので早めに来ていただければ幸いです。
２．場所：MIFA Training Center (Log House)
３．内容
　(1) 前半　10:00~11:00
　　　Guidance ,Timetable等の説明後,アメリカからALTとして来日

　　　され、常総市で英語を教えておられるArmand Cuevasさんに

　　  「My Hometown」についてShort Speechをしていただく予定

　　　です。その後皆さまは各テーブルで自己紹介、最近の話題 等自由

　　　にchatしましょう。

　(2）Tea Break　11:00~11:10
　(3) 後半　11:10~11:55

　　・一般テーブル　　

　　　本日のTopic は「Proposals for improving MIFA Chat Salon」です。

　　　最近のMIFA Chat Salonは毎回40名以上の方が参加され、リピー

　　　ターの方もたくさんおられます。そこで「より良いChat Salonを

　　　目指して」皆さまにいろいろな意見や提案についてchatしていただ

　　　きたいと思います。

　　・Beginners Table 

　　　希望に応じて設定しますので希望者は申し出てください。

４.　その他
（１）紅茶とコーヒーを準備していますので専用のカップをご持参いただ

　　　 ければ幸いです。

英語でおしゃべり　　報告

ショートスピーチでは、守谷市の姉妹都市である

アメリカ、コロラド州グリーリー市に、この夏守谷市青少年派遣ホームステイ

交流プロジェクトにより、訪問した様子を団長である、鈴木亮子氏より、

ご紹介いただきました。　

守谷市の中高校生１０名ぐらいと、引率者で、８月初旬に１０日間ぐらいで

アメリカに行かれたそうです。
　

Visiting Sister-City, Greeley

With 12 students from 12 to 17 years old, I left Japan for Greeley on July 28^th. It was 26th Students Exchange Program of Moriya City, and I took part in the program as a group leader with another leader representative of the city office, Mr. Eguchi.

Greeley is in the state of Colorado. It took about 10 hours and 30 minutes to get to Denver. From Denver, the staffs of Greeley City gave us rides for about an hour and half to Greeley. It was already in the evening, we stayed at a hotel.

The second day, we started our tour from UCN, University of Northern Colorado. We had a short simulation lecture, then we had a campus tour by tram. The campus was huge and very well maintained, we all were surprised and some students told me they would like to study there in the future.

In the afternoon, we went to Weld County Fair. There were a lot of animals-cows, pigs, poultries, goats, rabbits and so on. We actually felt that Greeley was a farming area. After that, we went to the civic center to join the welcome reception and met the host families.

 From the third day to the sixth day, we stayed with each host families and enjoyed various things. During the time we visited Greeley, a big festival called Art Picnic was also held at the park in downtown. There were a lot of stands, we could buy food, pictures, photos, clothes, cosmetics, accessories, garden ornaments, etc.

  Greeley has been trying to make the city attractive. In 1998, One Percent Art Program started, it means 1% of the cost of new public construction project is used to purchase public art. They have purchased sculptures and have put them in the town. You can see a lot of beautiful and unique sculptures in the town.

  On August 3^rd, very early in the morning, we had to say good bye to the host families in the dark. Before the day, we had a very moving Farewell Party, all of us didn’t go back to Japan yet. Time flew so fast!

People in Greeley are very kind and nice, we were always welcomed with their warm hospitalities. The time with them was so precious for all of us. I think the students understood how important to communicate and be friends with people in foreign countries through their experiences. And, of course, how fun it is!

帰りたくないよ～、と青少年はグリーリー滞在を満喫したようでした。
