開催報告

6月のChat Salonは、7日にログハウスで開催されました。イベントの前半では、日本文化のユニークさについて英語で語り合うセッションが行われ、各グループで日本の文化について幅広い話題が取り上げられました。後半では、木山さんによる茶道のプレゼンテーションが行われ、抹茶や茶道の作法、会場の飾りつけなどについて、わかりやすく説明していただきました。プレゼン後には、実際にお茶と和菓子をいただきながら茶道を体験する時間もあり、参加者全員がその奥深さと美しさに触れることができました。今月も学びの多い、印象深いイベントとなりました。

This month, on June 7, enthusiastic participants, as always, assembled at the Log House to take part in the Chat Salon. This event was an engaging fusion of English language practice and an introduction to Japanese culture.
                   
The event commenced around 10 A.M. with Fujimori-San welcoming all the participants. He quickly went over the schedule and then briefly shared his thoughts on how we can discuss and explore our cultures without making any unnecessary comparisons. I think this idea is meaningful and it certainly tests our communication skills. 

Around 10:10, all the participants formed small groups to discuss and explore the uniqueness of Japanese culture. Everyone was excited to share their thoughts. One group explored whether Japan has always been culturally homogeneous. It was learnt that due to travel restrictions in the distant past, there were regional differences in culture. Other groups touched on the unique aspects of Japanese culture such as Shigin, Kabuki, and Sumo wrestling. The chat session concluded around 10:40.

 

It was time for much-awaited presentation on the traditional tea ceremony by Kiyama-San. She explained how Buddhist monks introduced matcha tea to Japan and it became a symbol of harmony and respect. She explained that the mutual bowing between the guest and host not only reflects respect but also honors the artists who made the ceramics used in the ceremony. She also emphasized the significance of ambience, flowers, hanging scrolls, and the proper etiquette to bow and hold cups while serving tea. Although the presentation was detailed, I noticed that Kiyama-San had more to share. However, due to time constraints, the presentation concluded around 11:35. Thank you, Kiyama-San for the insightful and engaging presentation!

After the presentation, it was finally time to experience the tea ceremony. The guests were served tea and sweets while following the tea ceremony etiquette. It was a treat to watch both guests and hosts follow the rituals gracefully. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience

 

 

 

 

Finally, Kiyama-San welcomed a few questions. She explained, in the beginning, only men could serve as hosts, but over time, women also entered this role. She also added how the practice of hosting tea ceremonies has made her resilient over the years. 

Overall, the event was an enriching and memorable experience

今月6月7日、いつものように熱心な参加者がログハウスに集まり、チャットサロンに参加しました。

このイベントは、英語の練習と日本文化の紹介が融合した魅力的なものでした。

                       

午前10時頃から始まり、藤森さんが参加者全員を歓迎しました。

彼はすぐにスケジュールを確認し、不必要な比較をせずに自分たちの文化に

ついて話し合い、探求する方法についての考えを簡単に共有しました。

この考え方は意味があり、確かに私たちのコミュニケーション能力が

試されると思います。

 

10時10分頃、参加者全員が小グループを作り、日本文化の独自性について

議論し、探求しました。誰もが興奮して自分の考えを共有しました。

あるグループは、日本が常に文化的に均質であったかどうかを調査しました。

遠い昔の旅行制限により、文化には地域差があることが分かった。

他のグループは、紫銀、歌舞伎、相撲など、日本文化のユニークな側面に

触れました。チャットセッションは10時40分頃に終了しました。

 

木山さんによる伝統的な茶道についての待望のプレゼンテーションの時間でした。

彼女は、仏教の僧侶が抹茶を日本に紹介し、それが調和と尊敬の象徴になった

経緯を説明しました。彼女は、ゲストとホストの間の相互のお辞儀は、

敬意を反映するだけでなく、式典で使用される陶器を作ったアーティストを

称えるものでもあると説明しました。彼女はまた、雰囲気、花、掛け軸、

そしてお茶を出すときにお辞儀をしてカップを持つための適切なエチケット

の重要性を強調しました。プレゼンテーションは詳細でしたが、木山さんが

もっと共有したいことがあることに気づきました。しかし、時間の都合上、

11時35分頃に発表が終了しました。木山さん、洞察力に富んだ魅力的な

プレゼンテーションをありがとうございました!

 

プレゼンテーションの後、いよいよ茶道体験の時間となりました。

お茶やお菓子をいただきながら、茶道のマナーを守りました。ゲストと

ホストの両方が優雅に儀式に従うのを見るのは楽しみでした。

誰もがその経験を徹底的に楽しんだ。

 

最後に、木山さんからいくつかの質問が寄せられました。彼女は、最初は

男性だけがホストを務めることができたが、時間が経つにつれて女性も

この役割を担うようになったと説明した。彼女はまた、茶道を主催する

習慣が長年にわたって彼女を回復力にしてきたことを付け加えました。

 

全体として、このイベントは豊かで思い出に残る体験でした。
